This ornament stands 10 inches tall and is made from walnut wood.

‘Orbit’ off-centre bowl

This one of a kind stunning bowl was woodturned, beautifully decorated and donated by Dave Capper Sandon from the U.K.

This is what Dave wrote about his piece when he donated it.

A galactic effort was needed to finish this off-centre bowl, which depicts a small moon passing in front of a larger planet, with all the glory of celestial rays emanating from behind each heavenly body.

Made from a 10″ Sycamore blank and using Acrylic paints, this was spun on the lathe at each centre point to achieve the effects seen. The orientation of the grain was important to the 3d moon effect on the inside of the bowl.

I came up against many difficulties during the making and filming of this bowl .
